Colors – Poem

It begins with Hot Pink

A little drop of vivid color,

small but powerful,

starts a chain reaction.

Yellow

The color spreads,

adding brightness as it goes along,

all around you.

Green

As if it’s asking, “let me in“,

the color surrounds our universe,

enveloping it in a warm light.

Pastel Pink

We tell the color every day,

I love you“,

as it brings us our happiness.

Red

Almost like an eclipse,

it shines on our world,

and gives us hope.

Blue

The 12 of us keep singing in the rain,

all connected with one another,

the color washing over our heads.

Purple

The color comforts us with love,

in the beginning, as small as a cherry,

but continuously growing and in motion.

Burgundy

We look forward to every new day,

thankful for that one drop

that brought us to where we are today.

Peach

Surely it’s destiny,

the color giving us light,

it’s love giving us a heart attack.

Eden Green

The 12 of us stay interconnected,

continuing on our journey,

the color continuing to be our one and only.

Grey

Overcoming the forces put against us,

facing them as confident as an egoist,

knowing we will conquer the darkness.

And finally, Orange

The color finally leaves us with one last kiss, knowing we are strong,

but I know we’ll see each other again later,

I’m sure.

I wrote this poem based on a music group called LOOΠΔ. The group consists of 12 members, each with a representative color and solo song. In the poem, before each set of 3 lines, I put each member’s representative color in the order they debuted in and I put their solo song name in the 3 lines, which I highlighted in their color. Each of the members solos have a story behind them that takes place in a universe called the Loonaverse. The stories of their solos and other songs come together to create one large continuous story, giving fans the opportunity to create theories that help move their story forward. I chose to personify color because in the first member’s solo, Vivid, it explains that the first member wants to bring light into the world by spreading color and finding friends in the Loonaverse.

  1. Dear Caitlyn,

First and Foremost, I really enjoyed the poem that you have composed; after reading your creation the initial response that I received was that you are a very direct individual in the best way possible. This is shown through the fact that you are not afraid to include elements into your writing from interests that you have in your everyday life. I believe that this is an amazing trait to have because with all of the peer pressure that our lives include it is next to impossible to be yourself . Moreover, your writing is also very aesthetically pleasing which is a great hook because by engaging the reader through the artistic style can make them want to read it even more.

The style in which you were able to flow your ideas was also done very well as it did not feel like there were unnecessary pauses in your writing which is always pleasing to read, so excellent work!

I truly loved your entire piece, however, the areas that really clung to me were as follows:

“But I know we’ll see each other again later, I’m sure.”

These few lines that you have included within your piece are short and beautiful additions they really do tug on the heart strings of whoever is reading the piece. This tone is probably what I found so alluring about it; in addition I feel that with these small phrases they are able to conclude your thoughts really smoothly, but also providing some epiphanies for the reader. Lastly, I think that the true art of a great writer is that they are able to create a lens into the world they have made, for the reader through their writing, and I believe that is what you have done here.

A minor detail that you could fix in order to enhance your writing could be to give a thorough check over for GUMPS or grammar mistakes.

Overall your writing is great, and I am very honored to have read it. I can not wait to read your future pieces of writing 🙂

    Sincerely,
    Kshef

    1. Dear Kshef,

Thank you so much, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! This is my favorite piece that I’ve written all year, and I’m happy that other people like it as well. I’ll be sure to watch out for grammar mistakes in future writing. Thanks again!

      Sincerely,
      Caitlyn
